I received an order confirmation with a pickup date. Will I get another confirmation right before pickup?
No, you will only receive one confirmation email that includes your pickup date or range. There will be no further confirmations.
Will you buy or take my old chickens?
No, I do not buy or take in chickens.
I have a rooster that I didn’t get from you. Will you take it?
No. Craigslist works well for rehoming roosters. Post them for free with a simple description like “Free Rooster.”
How much feed will my birds eat?
Six chicks eat approximately 50 lbs in 8 weeks. Older birds eat 1.5-2 lbs of food per week.
Can you send me pictures of my birds before I pick them up?
No, I do not send pictures of birds before pickup.
Do you sell eggs?
No, I do not sell eggs.
What should I feed my birds?
Feed them a starter chick feed for the first 8 weeks, then a grower crumble until they are about 6 months old. Once they are ready to start laying eggs, switch to a layer feed.
Can I get a deal or discount on my order?
No, I do not offer deals or discounts beyond anything that is advertised. An order that you think is large is not a reason for a deal.
Can I preorder birds older than what you offer?
No, I do not offer preorders for birds older than the ages listed on the website.
Do you sell unvaccinated birds?
No, all of my large fowl birds are vaccinated. It is too difficult to separate birds for individual customers who do not want vaccinations.
When should I take away the heat and move the chicks to the coop?
Chicks can be moved to the coop when they are fully feathered, typically around 4-6 weeks old, and when outdoor temperatures are warm enough.
Can I cancel my order?
All sales are final, and I do not offer cancellations or refunds. However if your birds have not hatched yet I will see what I can do. But understand I may not be able to do anything.
I want to talk to someone on the phone.
That is not possible. All communication must be done through email. As this is a small operation, I cannot keep track of different forms of communication.
My chick died within 3 days. What do I do?
Please email headclucker@koopscoops.com, and you will be offered a replacement.
You can view the full policy at www.koopscoops.com/policies.
My bird is sick. Can you help me?
I am not a vet and cannot provide medical advice. However, some common things farmers try are adding 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to each quart of water for 3-5 days. For an extra boost, crumble boiled egg yolk over their feed, but be sure to remove leftovers after an hour. If the issue persists and you recently picked up the bird, please let me know at headclucker@koopscoops.com.
Do you sell birds that are already laying?
Birds typically start laying around 6 months old. The oldest I offer for preordering are 2-3 months old. I may have older birds on the Yard Sale page, but this is very rare, and they sell quickly.
